One week left. The last great push.
If you have been using the NaNoWriMo website, please thank your MLs today. As someone who hosts writing sessions all year and plans with my county’s MLs, I know the amount of volunteer effort they put in is astronomical. A nice, “Thank You” will really help brighten their day.
This is a sink for most of us. We put more time and capital than can reasonably be expected to pay back. Money is important, but it’s not the most important. I dislike any writer who runs into overpriced and predatory scams. There are a lot of people making a living off people making a living.
No, it’s not the money I’m most concerned about, it’s the time. Time is the most scarce resource we can spend every day. There’s not enough hours in the day for us to do what we want. Throw in the fact we run out of energy quickly if we haven’t conditioned our bodies to handle it, and we even less than our waking hours to get real work in.
It’s another flaw in NaNo, we don’t have time to let the lessons we’ve learned really sink in. I think that’s a /shrug moment. We have all of December to look back fondly on our work. Let’s get writing. /sigh
