The fine folks of Audible have a new audiobook by Brandon Sanderson. Click above to instantly listen to it for yourself.
I’m someone who’s just getting into audiobooks now. And Sanderson is not someone who’s only prolific in writing, but prolific in the amount of quality narration in his audiobooks. Before we go more into this idea, let’s find out what Firefight is all about:
Newcago is free.
They told David it was impossible, that even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic. Yet Steelheart–invincible, immortal, unconquerable–is dead. And he died by David’s hand.
Eliminating Steelheart was supposed to make life simpler. Instead, it only made David realize he has questions. Big ones. And no one in Newcago can give him answers.
Babylon Restored, the city formerly known as the borough of Manhattan, has possibilities, though. Ruled by the mysterious High Epic Regalia, Babylon Restored is flooded and miserable, but David is sure it’s the path that will lead him to what he needs to find. Entering a city oppressed by a High Epic despot is risky, but David’s willing to take the gamble. Because killing Steelheart left a hole in David’s heart. A hole where his thirst for vengeance once lived. Somehow, he filled that hole with another Epic–Firefight. And now he will go on a quest darker and even more dangerous than the fight against Steelheart to find her, and to get his answers.

There you go, the book description. Reads pretty nice, doesn’t it? You may remember my post in November, when Sanderson’s Legion was released for free for thirty days (audiobook only, you still had to buy the physical and ebook). In two months, another book came out, and if you listened to the sample, it released well.
Like I said earlier, I’m new to this whole audiobook thing. A friend of mine only listens to audiobooks, but I was surprised that for someone fresh to the experience, I can tell good narration from bland line reading. This year I’ve been driving more than usual, so I’ve been putting podcasts, lectures, and some audiobooks on my phone and really enjoying the experience.
If you liked the sample, go over to Audible and give it a free listen with a 30 day Audible trial. More likely than not, fantasy and science fiction is right up your alley. At least, that’s what my Google stats have been telling me. If you do, Sanderson always has something in store for you.
